Grid & Capacity Ledger

Public electricity demand, planned generation and large-load applications for AI infrastructure planning.

These datasets describe different stages of the power system. Grid demand includes all end uses; it does not measure AI consumption. Planned supply and load applications are not operating capacity.

Hourly grid demand

EIA-930 observations for ERCOT, PJM and Arizona Public Service, in megawatt-hours per hourly interval.

Last observation: 2026-10-03T15:00:00Z

Monthly capacity ledger

Planned generating and storage units from preliminary EIA-860M inventory. Compare planned year, state and net summer capacity.

Inventory edition: 2026-08

Texas large-load queue

A dated view of the gap between requested load, studies, approvals and energization.

Historical snapshot: 2026-04-26

Read the units before comparing

MWh is energy delivered during a period. MW and GW express power or capacity. An application, a planned generator and an energized load are not interchangeable. Storage capacity also depends on discharge duration, which this ledger does not measure.
