Source and method

Download the original EIA-860M workbook. The Planned worksheet supplies plant and generator identifiers, status, technology, state, operation year and net summer capacity. Existing units are excluded. Blank capacity values remain missing and are excluded from sums.

EIA release notes and preliminary-data limitations. This inventory covers generating facilities with at least 1 MW of combined nameplate capacity. It is not a count of data-center power contracts.
